International Walk to School Day

9 Oct is International Walk to School Day. Students and parents are encouraged to walk to school on this day.

Those attending Timber Lane Elementary school are invited to join the inaugural A-Shea Walking School Bus which will depart the corner of West and Tod at approximately 0810.  You can join us at the depart or anywhere along our route as we travel along S. West St towards Timber Lane, cross at the ONLY cross walk on S. West St near Hollywood and proceed to the school. Even if you don’t go to school, you are invited to walk with us as we want to make a big showing.  Ms Patty Reed, our elected school board representative, might be joining us.

Bicycling Information Presented at Annual Meeting

Glenn Hiner presented information on the FFX Co Commuter Friendly Communities program at Poplar Heights Civic Association’s annual meeting on Wed night.  It was very well received and, in fact, there were more people present than have been over the last three years.  Glenn was riddled with questions on FFX Co transportation topics ranging from the use of hot lanes to cyclists’ disregard for stopping at marked intersections on the trail.  In addition, he was presented with many questions regarding cycling in FFX County and especially about cycling in Vienna, the Vienna bike master plan, cycling at GMU and facilities at new metro stops.

Annual Meeting coming Soon!

Poplar Heights Civic Association will have its annual meeting on Wednesday, May 15 at 7:30 at the Shrevewood School library.

There will be a presentation by Commuter Friendly Communities Program.
